Well the heat is certainly starting to pick up here in the NY area.  We've had our fair share of rain and flip flopping with cold and warm days.  Is the heat here to stay?  Who knows but since we are so unsure Kelly and I  kept in mind the crazy weather possibilities and chose some layering pieces for those not so warm days and plenty of items for those hot sunny days.  This week our picks show you 2 outfit options with accessories that will look great with both choices.  Kelly's picks have a mint green and pinky theme while mine is Navy with hints of green and touches of nude.  Hope you can get inspired from these pieces as much as we have.  Have a Fabulous weekend!

Leopard and White

Sometimes I randomly get a bit homesick and spontaneously travel home for a quick visit. While I only live a 2 hour drive from family and close friends it can often feel like we live worlds apart.  On Memorial Day I called my sister, Kim (last minute) and said I was taking the train in to visit for the day, and that was that.  We made a day of it and as you can see I also managed to snap a few photos of her in her totally Rad outfit!   There is something about this outfit that makes me smile, maybe because it's  got a hint of rocker 80s chick style.  I think thats why I love it so much.  It must be the combo of the blue leopard print the pointy toe heels and hmm those crazy but cool sunglasses?  Those are my glasses BTW.  I let her borrow them for the day while squinting because I loved how they looked paired with her  ever so slightly 80s getup.  We had a great time on Monday joined by mom and managed to find the cutest old school white car while out for a drive (as you can see above).

Rain Shoes, Jellies and Wellies

The past few days have been nothing but clouds and off and on rain here in the NorthEast area.  I guess it's no surprise that there is rain on the horizon since it is Memorial Day weekend.  It notoriously rains here on what seems like every Memorial Day weekend since I can remember as a kid.  With Rain on the brain I got to thinking about what the heck to wear if I am out and about during this holiday weekend.  I mean regular old clunky rain boots are just not gonna cut it when your dressed in your weekend fun wear!  I dunno about you but I am not too psyched to put on my giant Hunter boots (which I Love) during a humid smoggy day. I also don't want to chance ruining my favorite leather or suede flats.  This is especially true when you are not quite sure if its gonna rain.  With all of these thoughts in mind I started looking at other rain shoe options.  Above I have put together a sundry collage of rain shoe possibilities including flats, sandals and boots.  There is something for everyone and every situation.  I don't know how I will choose but I am loving the Tory Burch bow flats :)
Hope you have a lovely SUN-filled Memorial day weekend! :)

Casual Coral

Jen and I are LOVIN that colored denim is so popular right now!  It is simply everywhere creating vibrant window displays in every store. I happen to heart my coral pair the most! The color is to die for and the jeans fit me comfortably. The jeans are a skinny jean, so I like to wear a flowy top.  My rule of thumb is only do 1! If my jeans are tight, I am not wearing  a super fitted top.  I want the top to be able to move freely, since my corals aren't going anywhere :) While I do love the skin tight cat-woman look, it's not exactly my style. This top is a racer back which is my favorite style tank top! Since I was sporting my favorite look in the back I decided to go for a messy tousled up do to show it off.  With the hair up, enter my giant gold hoops! I am a 90's style kid at heart and enjoy a big old hoop. I kept it simple with some bangles on my arm, and wore a nude open toed heel. The outfit instantly put me in a good mood dressed with a bring on summer attitude!!

Kelly and I are always talking about our wish-list pieces that we "wish " we could go out and buy at the drop of a hat.  Every girl has her wish-list and though some items may be unachievable due to sensibility and budget, you can always gather inspiration from those out of reach items and go for something similar.  We decided that we wanted to bring you our favorites each week.  Some pieces are strictly for inspiration while others are very practical and affordable.  Now I would like to say that we do indulge from time to time, after being a disciplined shopper for periods of time I think it's ok - don't you?  As you will see, BRIGHT and BOLD colors are what we are currently Loving.

Sphinx in Yellow

This past weekend was so much fun! Besides celebrating a lovely Mother's Day I spent Saturday afternoon with my co-blogger and bestie Kelly.  Since we live on what feels like opposite sides of the planet we lack having enough quality time and photographs with each other.  So between a countless number of sun showers we managed to take several photos for our blog so you (the readers) can know who we are.  Those photos are coming SOON but for now here is a sneak preview of some pics with Kelly in her Sphinx shirt, which I happen to LOVE.

Pink Baby Shower - DIY Towel Cake & Cupcakes

This adorable little shower was perfect in its tiny details throughout every room.  The theme was pink mixed with animal prints requested by the mommy to be.  Her favorite of all is the Cheetah print.  You will see these prints incorporated throughout various party details and even gifts from the guests.  My crafty aunt was the wonderful host responsible for the lovely decor/food /fun.  In my attempt to help I decided to try a new project and make a towel cake which I had seen in the past and loved.  I was used to seeing diaper cakes at baby showers and thought I would change it up with baby towels and some washcloth cupcakes.  I used the towels and washcloths on the registry plus I purchased some extra white washcloths.  There was one fact that I didn't consider at first, which is that baby towels are very small and thin so even 8 was not suffice enough to make a 3 layer cake.  That is why you will notice in the DIY instructions below, that I incorporated regular bath towels.  Overall I think it turned out great and it is easily interchangeable for any party theme.

Now for the DIY Baby Towel Cake and Cupcakes!
You will need:
          Cake
  • 3 stackable cakes stands or one pedestal stand if stacking cake one on top of another.
  • 8 hooded baby towels
  • 3 regular bath towels (adult)
  • 2 hand towels
  • Decorative push pins
  • Ribbon of your choice
  • Cake topper (if preferred)

         Cupcakes (18)
  • 36 baby washcloths (contrast colors and/or prints)
  • paper baking cups (18)
  • push pins
          Step 1 - Bottom Layer

          Step 2

          Step 3

Tip: try to avoid pinning the first and 2nd bath towel in the same spot.  It will be too thick if both towels end up pinned in the same spot.  The outer towel on each layer should be pinned as neatly as possible.

Step 4 - Middle Layer
Repeat steps 1-3 using only 3 baby towels and only 1 bath towel.

Step 5 - Top Layer
Repeat steps 1-3 using only 1 baby towel and 2 hand towels

Step 6
Wrap ribbon of choice around each cake layer.

Cupcakes
Making the cupcakes is very simple. Here is a great video on how to make baby washcloth cupcakes.  This video uses only 1 washcloth per cupcake.  I used 2 cloths to make contrasting colors and to make the cupcake more of a traditional size.  I also used push pins instead of tape to secure the cupcakes.  Below is the finished product . Have fun making your own creation :)

Pink Lemonade Margaritas (For the Girls)

In Honor of Cinco De Mayo I am sharing my Ultimate Margarita recipe.  My BFFs and I recently had a girls's night themed "Pink Fiesta" so naturally I chose to make Margaritas.   This time they had to be pink, hence the pink lemonade.  If you are looking for a traditional Margarita taste than you may want to stick with tequila and lime juice.  This recipe is a bit sweeter from the lemonade but slightly toned down from the secret ingredient "beer."  Light beer works best and Corona Light is perfect for this weekend's Cinco De Mayo festivities.  Corona Light was tested out and approved on girl's night.  As for the tequila, use whatever you prefer.  I prefer Patron over all others, but we have a bottle to lips relationship haha.  In this case we used Hornitos white tequila to help preserve some of the pink color.  Pour this concoction over rocks and garnish with a lime wedge. We also used a salt and red sugar combo for rimming.  For those peeps that enjoy a blended frosty drink instead of over rocks, just add all the same ingredients to the blender with ice and you will get the same Delicious results!
Ladies you won't be disappointed with this drink.  For us it was a slam dunk night.  My girlfriends, margaritas, and pink, what more could a girl ask for?!!
Have a Fabulous weekend!  CHEERS!

In Love with One Love

Part of my daily facial routine

As I have grown older I have become more and more conscious of what products I put on my skin.  My face of course is where I want to be most careful.  I have extremely sensitive skin so if you are the same these products could be your savior.  I was constantly breaking out in facial hives and suffering from major dry patches.  I started using several all natural and/or Organic products over the past year.  My favorite find has been this One Love Organics skincare line.  It is so gentle yet washes and nourishes my skin very thoroughly.  There are many other components to this line but these 3 goodies are a permanent part of my daily regimen.

The Brand New Day exfoliation is gentle enough to use everyday.  I use it about 4 days per week. It can also be combined with the foaming cleanser to give you a softer exfoliating experience.  The Skin Savior Balm is like a beauty butter and it smells fabulous, like apples.  It moisturizes unbelievably well.  I use it some days and every night.  The best part about this balm is its ability to work double duty.  Combine it with your favorite mineral powder or bronzer in the palm of your hand - Bam you have an instant tinted moisturizer - PERFECT for SUMMER GLOWING SKIN.  The Easy Does It foaming cleanser is great because it can be used morning and evening yet it will never dry your skin.  What I have learned from One Love Organics is that Less is More.

Bonus Bag plus 2 goodies (youth serum and skin shammy) when you purchase the above line in Travel Size
The fact that all of these products come in travel size is absolutely AMAZING!  I mean we're talking about your face people! Try it out first in the small size.  No one wants to invest in a monster sized product that is not right for their skin though I think you'll love it.   The adorable little bag above comes with all these products in travel size.  If not all products interest you then they even have travel size individuals for purchase.

Give your skin the all natural organic treatment it has been waiting for.
